- The Ontario government announced that they will impose a province-wide shutdown effective 12:01 AM on Boxing Day (Saturday December 26, 2020), for 14 days in northern Ontario and for 28 days in southern Ontario.
The shutdown for southern Ontario would take place from December 26, 2020 to January 23, 2021.
This decision was made based on rising numbers of positive COVID-19 cases, people from locked down areas and red zone areas traveling to zones with lower case numbers, threatened intensive care bed capacities, and reports of a new and much more contagious COVID-19 strain that was first uncovered in the UK. - Publisher
