NEWS TRANSIT SERVICE ENHANCEMENTS TAKE EFFECT Milton Transit is on the move with service chang es, which took effect Tues- day. Improvements include a new route, expanded number of trips to the Highway 401 industrial ar- ea and service modifica- tions to evening GO drop- off service. The new 10 Farmstead route will provide service to the Wilmott and Ford neighbourhoods, offering 60-minute service fre- quency. ° This route will connect to four Toronto-bound GO trains in the morning and four homebound GO Trains in the evening. An additional trip has been added to route 1A In- dustrial, departing from the Milton GO Station at 5:40 p.m., to meet more em- " ployment shift times. There is also a service area change for the eve- ning GO Drop-Off Service. , The 30 West zone and- 31 Central zone routes have 'been combined for the 5:58 p.m. trip leaving the Mil ton GO Station, with one bus servicing both zones. The 6:28 p.m. and the 6:58 p.m. trips continue with dedicated flex route ser- vice to each of the three zones respectively. "Expanding service means providing greater accessibility for our resi- dents," said Milton Mayor Gord Krantz. "These new and ex- tended routes will provide our citizens more opportu- nities to travel and con- nect to work and leisure destinations in Milton." With more service hours, Milton Transit en- courages riders to consid- er the added value of monthly passes offering unlimited rides. - With GO station park- ing often at capacity, Mil- ton Transit reminds Greater Toronto Area commuters about the sig- nificant savings with the .GO Transit Fare Integra- tion Program. Passengers connecting with GO Tran- sit services at the Milton GO Station can pay a dis- counted 75 cents cash fare on Milton Transit. A GO Transfer Monthly Pass can be purchased for $30, unlimited GO Transit con- nections for the-month in- dicated on the face of the pass. A valid Presto card, GO pass or GO ticket is re- quired and must be shown to the operator upon boarding Milton Transit. Regular GO. Transit fares apply for all GO Transit service. Milton Transit second quarter ridership in- creased by 11 per cent this year, compared to the same period last year.
