Committee members receive a retainer of $400 per member, per term and per diem of $250 for attending each meeting. This Committee is required by the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, to consider applications requesting financial audits of candidate campaigns and third party advertisers in the 2018 municipal election. The Committee may be required to appoint auditors and determine if legal proceedings are required as a result of the auditors' report. The Committee will be composed of three members and one alternate, with membership drawn from * individuals with a background in accounting, auditing, law, election administration and/or public 'administration. All members must be Milton residents. Applicants should possess some or all of the following: * Knowledge and understanding of the Municipal Elections Act's campaign financing provisions; * Experience in administrative law; * Proven analytical and decision making skills; * Experience working on a committee, task force or in a similar setting; * Availability and willingness to attend meetings; * Demonstrated oral and written communication skills; and ¢ Any other criteria as may be prescribed under the Act. They say they're aiming for a "fiesta" that celebrates both arts and agriculture. Set for Sunday (August 12) at Country Heritage Park, the so-called Arts & Agri-Culture Fiesta will run from 10 a.m. to 5 pm. ° and features the work of 21 curated Ontario artists, live music, wagon rides, ag- ricultural education and a barn bar. There will also be art- ists actively creating work throughout the park. Ad- mission is $5. . Artist Susan Powell, whois co-ordinating volun- teers for the day, says there is more crossover between the arts and agriculture than one might realize. "There's so much unit- ing arts and agriculture in SO many ways," said Pow- ell, who is working on a cor- nucopia of oversized pa- pier-mache vegetables for the big day. "We often see a lot of artists in (Country Heritage Park) painting away. "People who are grow- ing food are creative beings (and) artists are your visu- al scribers of what's going on around us socially. They're capturing the land- scape." Among the Halton art- ists showing their work at the event are Sean Benton of Oakville, Georgetown's Monica Burnside, Pam Ross from Moffat, Camp- bellville's Tania Orton, and Milton artists Chaz- zly Johanna and Quinn Cruise. Art on display will in- clude oil paintings, mixed media, glass, jewelry, ce- ramics, pottery, photogra- phy, sculpture, ink, pencil and watercolours. The work will be for sale. Musical entertainment starts at 1 p.m. with Toron- to indie band Naked Wild, followed by roots rock reg- gae artists Ras Ali and Friends at 2 p.m. Country Heritage Park features 80 hectares of property used for commu- nity gardens, events and programming meant to- connect the community with its agricultural roots. It also features a "closed- loop, self-watering" green- house made of recycled wa- ter bottles, with a second one under construction. The park is located at 8560 Tremaine Rd. in Mil- ton.
