Halton police report a suspect smashed the front window of Illu- sions Hair Salon, on Main Street Fast, just after 9:30 p.m. The culprit allegedly used an accelerant in an attempt to light the premises on fire, but failed and the fire went out, according to a media release. Det.-Const. Kevin Barkhouse said officers were already in the area and arrived on the scene al most immediately after calls came to police from witnesses. Halton police said a man was lo- .cated nearby a short time later and arrested. Kenneth Hume, 32 and of Hal- ton Hills, was charged with two . counts of mischief under $5,000 and one count of arson. He was held pending a bail hearing.
