The film, which screened ahead of the doc- umentary feature Only 78 on Jan. 28 at FirstOntario Arts Centre 'Milton, pro- files theswork of the Onta- rio Turtle Conservation Centre, a small turtle trau- ma centre in Peterbor- ough, asitfightstoeven the odds for survival that freshwater turtles face in a modern world. The audi- ence was charmed by the reptilian patients profiled in Dobson's environmen- tally-themed documenta- ry. "All seven shorts were rated very highly by our audience members, they responded especially ,warmly to this one," said festival founder and direc- tor Jennifer Smith. "Dob- son has rather artfully but" managed to create empa- thy and compassion for these amazing animals through this film, drawing - us into their stories as if we. 'were watching a medical drama." Surprised and de- lighted when told of the win, Dobson said, "It's a great honour to win an Au- dience Choice Award. An award wirning with over 25 years experience in documentary filmmaking, Dobson most recently di- rected for the CBC's The Nature of Things, was sto- ry editor for Viceland's new documentary series Payday in 2016, and in 2012 directed Church Of Elvis and its sister show, Elvis In Love.
