Now studying to become a- doctor, Joannie was two days away from competing at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics when her 55-year-old mother, Thérese, died from a heart attack. Joannie summoned up her courage and went on fo capture a bronze medal in an emotionally charged and inspiring performance. "Women often don put themselves first," Joannie says. "My mom was definitely like that. She'd put my dad and me first. After she signs of heart attack, knowledge that can save lives.
