The open house is the town's latest ef- fort to address resident complaints regard- ing a recent increase in the towing of vehi- cles from local commercial plazas, partic- ularly in Bronte. A previous tow truck licensing bylaw was presented at a special council meeting on Sept. 11, 2018, but was sent back to the drawing board. Town council also passed a motion di- recting staff to recommence a public en- gagement process on this matter. Town staff now say they have reviewed the licensing of tow trucks and storage yards, and have created an updated bylaw to share with the public. The proposed bylaw is intended to reg- ulate towing prices and ensure that only li- censed tow truck companies, drivers and vehicle storage yards operate in Oakville. Town staff argued this approach will help ensure consumer protection and pro- mote safety within the industry. The open house will take place at Oak- ville Town Hall at 1225 Trafalgar Rd., in the Palermo and Bronte rooms, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. OPEN HOUSE ON PROPOSED OAKVILLE TOWING BYLAW SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 4 Signs at the Centriller Square plaza in Bronte caution motorists that parking is reserved for customers only.
