Spencer-McTear. St. George's Church, Trenton, was the scene of a very charming wed- ding at one o'clock on Monday, July 5th, when Margaret Brenda, daugh- ter of Rev, and Mrs. A. L. McTear, became the bride of Reginald Clarke Spencer, Camden East. The cera {mony was performed by the bride's father, assisted by the father of the groom, the service being read from a white ivory covered prayer book, 6 gift ofthe bride from the choir, of which she was a member, The church was beautifully deeccr- ated with a profusion of summer flowers, arranged by the girl friends of the bride. Preceded by the choir the bride entered the church on the arm of her cousin, Mr. Howard Me- Tear. e@ was a pleture of girlish loveliness' in a gown of ivory kit: ten's ear crepe, trimmed with real lace, her bridal vell arranged with a cornet of orange blossoms, and she carried a shower bouquet of-sweet- heart roses, lly-of-the-valley and baby's breath. Her only ornament was the gift of the groom, a rope of pearls, ' > "The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Lucia MeTear, as-maid of honor, who wore a powder blue and silyer shot taffeta frock, with large picture hat, and carried a bouquet of sunset roses. The bridesmaids were the Misses Marion and Claire McTear, who were frocked alike in pink and silver shot taffeta, with mohair picture hats, fn pink, and {carried pink roses. The groom was supported by Mr. Hugh Vallery of Windsor. The ushers were Mr, Jack Creegan of Deseronto and Mr. Ww. J. Judson of Napanee, "All through the service, soft mu was rendered by the organist, M ¥. Mrs. Harry Blliott, of Buffalo, N.Y., her attend- ent, wore French grey georgette and carried pink carnations... The groom was assisted by Mr. Harry Elliott, of Buffalo, N.Y. . A buffett lunch was served at the home of the bride and Mr. and Mrs, Wells left on the C.N.R International train for Detroit, where they will reside. The bride's mother wore black: flat crepe, Mrs Wells, the mother of the groom wore black and white crepe. The out-of- town guests were Mr. and Mrs. T. 8. Wells, Miss Olive, Wells, Bloomfleld, Mr, and Mrs. Morley Simpson, Brigh- ton, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Elliott, Buf- falo, N.Y. The Editor Hears That the Y.W.C.A. is a busy place just now. Many tourists have found that they can get comfortable rooms and board there and parties of ladies stay the night or the week-end. Late- ly many of the visitors have come from the United States for it would seem that a number of adventurous American women go off on motor trips without their men kind and feel sure that the "Y" will provide for their comfort. Then too the summer school students are back at Queen's and the "Y" has a good share of the girl students. On Tuesday, with some of the regular boarders away on holi- days, dinner was served to twenty- two guests. The wide. verandah over- looking the shaded tennis court is an ideal place to sit and is open to the visitors who rest heresbefore going on their way. That all the church choirs are re- duced in numbers during the sum- mer and the congregations are also much smaller. This is the time for familiar hymns and short sermons. It is quite true that no congregation enjoys the variety of hymns that may be found.in their hymnal, but let us umn brings and the renewed energy caused by the copl autumn days to learn new words and music. That during the summer we have many visitors in Kingston. Let us make them welcome, We meet them in the shops where they buy articles from our Kingston merchants; we meet them on the streets where they are asking their way to our many historical points of interest, the very things they have travelled miles to see. Let us tell them about the city, its beginning and its story. Show them our university, our old towers and forts, our splendid Royal Mili- tary College and the Tete de Pont Barracks built on the site of old Fort Frontenac. And then send them to the Martello Tower in Macdonald Park which has been turned into a museum by the Kingston Historical | Soclety and. has many things of in- terest for our visitors. And if you meet the travellers socially either at your friends" houses or public. gath- erings, talk to them and get them to talk to you. It will please them to tell you of their travels and unless you are very self-centred you will enjoy hearing their impressions. But don't talk all the time to the people you meet every day who are perhaps easier to hold a conversation with because you have so many things in common. We have all seen visitors who looked distinctly bored because ho one bothered about them so ab. friends in the little things th spoke of every - day. | | wait for the full choir that the aut-|-§i § rstands next to the United States and | sorbed were their hostesses and her, Only one sample to a person.
