There were now 441 members. The executive had met only once during the year but a great deal of business had been carried on through the mail. The report stated that the thirteen bran- ches of the Women's Institute had Joined the Horticultural Society and it was expected that great interest in this branch would be taken. Mrs. McNaughton in her report, thanked the Agricultural Represen- tative, Mr. A. W. Birrett, for the as- sistance given to the Instityte during the year, also Mr, L. A. Zufelt, Su- perintendent of the Eastern Ontarie Dairy School, and the press for the assistance given. 3 ; The financial report showed the General Institute with a balance of 20.42 at the start of the year. The receipts, for the, year had total. led $251.29 and the expenditures, $250.21, leaving a balance of $1.09.
