Deséronts, June 21 --Mr. Austin Kimmerly of the Deseronto-Napanee Road was struck by-a car on the highway Saturday night about dusk. He had gone down to visit his bro- ther, who lives on down the road and had left there about 9.10 p.m. to go back home. He had gone about 800 yards up the morth side of the highway when he heard a car com- ing.. He walked over as near the diteh as posssible; there were no cars in sight and there was plenty of room for the car to pass him, but it bit him and knocked him over in the ditch. Dr. /Kimmerley knows not how long he had lain there be- tore he was discovered by melghbors and taken home where he was atl- tended by a doctor . He has a large bruise near the right temple, one leg badly bruised and was generally shaken up. He sald it seemed that the hub struck him on the galt of the leg, precipitating him upon the mudguard and then into the ditch where he thinks he landed on his head as some silver he had in his pockets was found lying where he bad fallen. The driver of the car did not stop to see whether he was injured or pot. B. Bristol, on Thursday atf- ternoon proved an unqualified suc- cess. Throngs of visitors enjoyed the hospitality of tLe genial hostess whose spacious parlors, verandahs and lawns were a constant delight with JDbeautiful blooms tucked in ev- ery available corner. The local or- ganization of the W. C. T. U. appre- ciate having this spacious home plac- ed at thelr disposal each year and creased thereby. Mrs. J. R. Brown admitted the guests who were them welcomed by the hostess assisted by the local president, Mrs. M.-E. Knox. Mrs. F. B. Smith, treasurer, received the admittance fee. Mrs. F. W. Young assisted in entertaining the visitors while Mrs. D. Head and Mre. A. McKibbon showed them to the dining room. The room was in charge of Mrs. D, Lambert and Mrs. T. BE. Waring and the serving was done by the young lady members of the Y. Mesdames W. R. Brown, Da- via, Newman and Killip poured the ea. Those in charge of the home cooking booth were Mrs. R. D. Mil- ford, Mrs. G. M. Hicks, Mrs. W. Net tleton and Miss Thorn. The flower booth on the lawn in the custody of Mrs. W. 8. Blakely and Mrs. Emmet Kelly, was a wondorus sight and few of the 'many visitors could resist the temptation to carry away an armful of blossoms. A goodly sum was realized for a worthy cause. Rev. W. Wi, and Mrs. Wees~ have returned from a visit of two weeks with relatives and friends in Eastern Ontario. Eimer Roblin and family 'with oth. er friends have arrived from Roches ter and are at Camp Glenwood, Green Point. Miss Helen Mallory has accepred a pésition on the 'staff of one of the Windsor schools, Rev. J. J. Mellor's friends will be glad to know that his health is improving and he is now able to be about the house. His pulpit will be takén on Sunday morning by Mr. C. W.
