Cowan of St. Andrew's Presbyterian church, Picton, has accepted a call to St. Andrew's church, Hamilton, and will leave about the first of May to take over his new charge. Rev. Mr. Cowan has been in the Picton church - tor about two and a half years, during which time he has proved himself an indefatiguable worker, not only in the church but in every cause which was for the advance of community welfare. He leaves behind a host of friends and takes with him the best wishes of the town and community for him- self and family that they may be spared to many years of useful ser- vice for the extemsion of Christ's Kingdom. Jack Davis, of Toronto, is spend- ing Easter week with his aunts, the Misses Doherty, Main street east. Miss Dorothy Salisbury of Belle- | ville, 1s with Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Townsend. The advertising committee is to meet the town council with a view to securing a camping ground for tourists. Prof. Iva Martin and Mrs. Martin have returned to Picton after spend- ing the winter In the south. Mrs. J. J. Mellor and Mary spent over Easter with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Collins, Trenton. Albert Dunkley came down from Toronto to spend the holiday week with -his sister, Miss Mary Dunkley, Maple avenue. Prince Edward people were shock- ed on Tuesday night to learn of the death of Mrs. Everett Wood, which occurred at her home after only a few days' illness of pneumonia. Mrs, Wood was a daughter of the late John Vancleaf and was in her forty- fourth year. She leaves, besides her husband, her mother, Mrs. John Vancleaf, one brother, Harvard L. Vancleaf, of East Lake, and one sis- ter, Mrs. Clare Pearsall, Belleville Road. The funeral is this Thurs- day afternoon from the home with interment in Glenwood. Mrs. Finley Lasier has gone to Detroit to be with her daughter, who is ill in that city. Mrs. Ernest Holt of Oshawa spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs, Nixon Welsh, Ontario street. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Austin and Cy- ril Hambly of Toronto were Easter guests with Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Turnbull. Cadet Harold Vandewater of the R.M.C., Kingston, is holidaying with his mother. Mrs. 8. N. And Had To Come To Kingston General Hospital. Denbigh, April 15.-- Johnston Holmes met with the misfortune to cut one of his feet so seriously with an axe that he had to be taken to the Kingston General Hospital for treatment. Mrs. M. Ready, " her son, Herbert, and her daughter, Anna, left for Kingston where they intend to make their home for a while. Herbert Warlick has arrived home from Ottawa where he enjoy- ed a very pleasant visit with friends. Miss A. Barber, teacher of our public school, received information trom her home at Berk's Fall that her mother and sister were very ill and received permission to have her Easter vacation a week ahead of the regular time. She has just returned to resume her duties and to make up for lost time, accompanied by her sister, who intends to pay her and Denbigh village a visit. J Miss O. Paul, teacher of the Den- bigh Continuation school, is enjoying her vacation at her home in New- burgh. Albert Warlide, Vanbrugh, is a welcome guest of Mr. and Mrs. P. Stein. Among other visitors in the vicinity are: At K. G. Adams' their daughter, Margaret, North Bay; at S. Balls' their son, George, from Pet- erboro; at BE. Marquardt's, their son, John, from Renfrew, and their daughter, Katie, from Cloutarf; at F. Rodgers', their daughter, Lilian, from Ardoch and Claire from Ohl- man's Mountain. Herbert Yannan, of the Waterloo Lutheran Seminary, conducted di- vine service in the Lutheran church on Good Friday and Easter Sunday which were well appreciated. Township Councils | STORMINGTON. Sunday, April 13.--Council met. Members all present. Minutes of last meeting adopted. Communications were read from the Forestry branch, re tree planting. Tenders were also received from M. Cochrane and Wil- liam Lindsay agreeing to furnish power and help to operate the town- ship crusher. On motion, Mundell- Sands, M. Cochrane's tender be ac- cepted, for furnishing power, and everything necessary for running of crusher for 1925 to the satisfaction of the road superintendent. Carried. Motion, Sands-McFarlane, That the resignation of Amos Ferguson, road superintendent, be accepted. Car- ried. Motion, Fariane-Sands, That Alfred 'Harris -be . appointed road superintendent for 1925, also that the name of Alfred Harris be sub- stituted for that of Amos Ferguson ir By-law 6525. Carried. That road superintendent purchase necessary tools and build a tool box. On motion, Mundell-Sands, council expressed sincere' thanks of the ratepayers to A. M. Rankin, M.
