Indigestion and practically all forms of stomach trouble, say medical au- thorities, are due nine times out of ten to an excess of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. Chronic "acid stom- ach" is exceedingly dangerous and suf- ferers should do either one of two thi ngs. Either they can go on a limited and often disigreeable Qiet, avoiding foods that disagree with them, that irritate the stomach and lead to excess acid secretion or they can eat as they please In reason and make it a prac- tice to counteract the effect of the harmful acid and prevent the forma- tion of gas, sourness or premature fer- mentation by the use of a little Bisu- rated Magnesia at thelr meals. There is probably no better, safer or more reliable stomach antiacid than Bisurated Magnesia and it is widely used for this purpose. It has no di- rect action on the stomach and is not & diggstent. But a teaspoonful of the 'wdér or & couple of five grain tab- ts taken in a little water with the food will neutralize the excess acidity which may be present and prevent its further formation. Robinson, 234 Barrie street, the church officer of Chalmers church deserves credit for the beautiful stretch of velvety lawn surrounding his church. He spends much time on it and there are no better-looking patches of sward in the city, Damaged by Fire in 19086. In 1906 the second floor of the old medical building was damaged to the extent of several thousand dollars by a fire, which was confined to that storey. The library and the administration office, which were then on that floor, suffered the most damage. Science Students Arriving. Some of Queen's Science students have to put in a certain amount of shop work in their cdourse, Often their summer employment fills the bill. Others not so fortunate this year have arrived at Queen's and will be hard at work in the mechani- cal laboratory throughout Septem- ber. Don't Miss This Opportunity. Good Musical Programme, An excellent musical programme in 'Princess street Methodist church on Sunday included a vocal solo in the morning by Miss M. Derry, of this city, and a vocal solo at the even- ing service by Stanley Claxton, of Montreal. The services were taken by George D. Pound, in the absence of the pastor, Rev, J. K. Curtis, on his vacation. Entrance Results. The Perth high school entrance board has decided to grant certifi- cates to pupils unable because of measles or other illness to write on the examination in July if they in- tend to continue their studies at the Collegiate Institute, a high or con- tinuation school or form V in a pub- lic school. In each case the term work as reported by the tsacher, was considered. A Origin of "Radio." The word "radio" can 'be traced back to the Latin from "radius," originally meaning a spoke of a wheel. From the fact that the spokes spread ont from a common centre came the words "radiate," "ray," and finally "radio." The original root of this word is said to be the Greek form "ar," which meant "to go." ' Adding To His Herd. A. H. Fair has added some valu- able Holsteins to his Hemlock Farm dairy herd. He has just purchased thirteen head at Northcote, Ren- frew county. Seven were purchased from J. A. Plaunt, three from X. Plaunt, and one from J. M. Briscoe. They were all choice, pure-bred Hol- steins and naturally good prices were realized. Mr. Fair also picked up fifteen head of registered Halsteing at Aylmer, Ont. Kingston's Good Milk Supply. Kingston has reason to congratu- late her milkmen on the excellent quality of this product which they have been providing this summer. During the hot weather, June, July and August, when the heat induces the multiplication of bacteria of milk with 200,000 microbes per cubic centimeter is considered good. Yet the counts made at Queen's this sum- mer of local milk samples have gone ag low as 5,000~bacteria per c.c., and all were under 10,000. ae Mr. Mrs. C. J.
