Russell Gravee, alias Russell Moullen, has won out in his fight] against extradition. Graves was being held at the po lice station, at the request of the American authorities. He was want- ed in Detroit, Mich., to answer to a | charge of yiolating his parole, but he refused to go across the border vol- untarily, stating that he was a Ca- | hisd nadian and that he had served term in the States. The prisoner, it will be recalled, | was re-arrested on Saturday after: noon, as he walked out of the Ports- mouth penitentiary, where he had comploted a terry. When he refused 10 go across the horder, the Ameri. can authorities took the matter up with Ottawa, with the result that ® wire was received by the local po- | lice on Wednesday, asking for release of Graves and the latter, company with a relative left on midnight train for Toronto. Graves was arrested on a charge the ik of pocket-picking in the States and | to | was given a term of from one five years. He served one year and | 'was 'he allowed out on praole. He came to Canada, got again and was sentenced to 4 term in tho Portsmouth penitentiary The American authorities kept tab on Graves and when he was giv en his NMberty on Saturday, had the local police take him in charge From the very start Graves put up a fight and secured Adrian Revelle as his lawyar. The American authorities state that Graves gave his home as Buf- falo. N.Y., and this led them to be-_ lieve that he was an AmeMecan citl- zen. ? Record at Ottawa, Regardine the case The Ottawa Citizen of Wednesday has the fol- lowing: "Inspector Emile Joliat. local in- spéotor of detectives, states that Ruseell Moullen, as he #3 known the local police, belongs to Ottawa. and has a long record on the local books, he having, from days up, made frequent appearances in court to answer to 4 variely of charges. including two charges of | highway robbery, a number for shoo- | breaking, breaking and entering, | gtealing from the person and vag Tancy.
