They were found dead, the dog's head on his master's chest, by po- licemen who came too late. John Derrick, a friend of the watchman, was severely burned in a futile at- tempt to rescue the man and dog. He may die, Strike Will Not Affect Lake Shipments of Coal Washington, Sept. 28.--The Lake Carriers' association through its president, William Livingstone, yes- terday advised government officials that the strike of lake sailors, called for Baturday, would not materially Interfere with the movement of coal to the northwest, where an acute shortage must be made up before lake mavigation closes.
