DAME CLARA BUTT There will not be one dull mom- ent during the concert which Dame Butt, the contralto, Kennerley Rum- ford, baritone, and Daniel Melsa, the wonderful Polish violinist, will offer in Grant Hall on Monday, March 6th. With three such artists, variety in excellerte, will be the key note. Dame Butt will sing all those songs which have proved most popular during her career, and those {nim- itable duets which she and Mr. Rum- ford render with such amusing grace and spontaneity. Rounded out by a violinist of Melsa's powers, the pro- gram can not but be most satisfying. Dame Butt will aiso sing some of her most famous Oratorio arias and sacred numbers. Fath- er Lacey, and after the 8 o'clock mass Archbishop Spratt distributed the ashea .There; were large congre- gations at both services, which mark- ed the beginning of the season of Lent, during which services are to be conducted every Wednesday and Friday evenings. At St. George's Cathedral, at Bt, George's Cathedral, at 8 and 10 a.m., Dean Star officiating. The service consisted of the communa- tion Servige, the litany and holy com- munion. There was a large attend- ance. At 4 and 8 p.m. Dean Star will officiate, A feature of the- Lenten sermon will be a special mission. M. 8. Andre. St. George's Scouts, The weekly meeting of St. Georges Scouts was held Tuesday evening at troops' headquarters with acting Scoutmaster Hall in charge. This be- ing the tirst meeting for the month, the boys were given drill instruction by Capt. Hind. There were a good attendance which goes to show the interest being taken by the boys in the Scout movement. After physical training, Capt. Hind, secretary for the cothmittes, examined & number of boys for proficiency, badges and quite a number were successful in passing.
