SI Paramount Theatres, Idimited, to {a score of pretty girls, There is just enough of a plot to keep the interest up to a high pitch, but not sufficient to interfere with | the program of catchy dongs and | variations.--Advt.' | "Watch Your Step" Coming. | Among theglist of notable attrac- tions books, this city for the com- | | ing season, is perhaps none that | attracts mo.P" interest than Irving | | Berlin's famous international synco- | pated musical success, entitled, "Watch Your Step," which is booked to appear on Saturday, February 7th, {at the Grand Opera House, matinee | land night. The briskness and fresh- ness of "Watch Your Step" is enter- taining, absorbing and delighting t a degree that gives one to doubt the accuracy of one's timepiece that has recorded a long evening passed in the theatre. The fun, singing and danc- ing is on in a flash soon after the play's beginning, and flashes 'till the witty book and the ragtime musical liveliness has given a full and un- usual measure of repayment. An en- tire new production hss been built for this season's tour, and the gowns, worn by thirty pretty young girls, are the creation of the celebrated Helen Dryden, designer of the covers for "Vogue. '--Advt. ---- (At Griffin's. To-night 'will be the last opportun- ity to see the delightful "picture, "Twenty-three and a Half Hours' Leave," in which dainty Doris May and Douglas Maclean make such a hit. The story is packed with laughs ang deals with the mis-adventures of a certain Sergeant Grey, who falls in love with the daughter of the Col- onel of his regiment. It is in no sense of the word a war story, and not a single gun is exploded in its five reels. | The fact that the fun is against a khaki background, is mere- ly incidental. The two youthful gtars make their bow to the public as co-stars in "Twenty-three and a Half Hours' Leave," and their next pro- duction is sure to be eagerly looked forward to. The balance of our pro- gramme is also of exceptional merit, and taken on the whole makes up a genuine evening's entertainment. -- Advt. I -- a ------ A SUCCESSFUL YEAR For the Trusts and Guarantee Com« y Toronto, The annual statement of the Trusts and Guarantee Company, Limited, shows that the company has enjoyed a year of expanding business in all departments. During the past few years the company has steadily add- ed to its organization in different parts of Canada and is now reaping the benefits of the constructive po- licies. Yesterday the Whig announced that Allen Bros. Toronto, had secur- led a site on Princess street, and next few Im i EE WL A lars. To-day George Wilson, manager of that he has been authorized by his company, Paramount Theatres, Lim- ited, to announce to the public that they will build a handsome theatre in Kingston at a cost of a half 'mil- lion dollars. The site has already been secured on Princess street, and building operations will begin about the first of May, so that the house will be completed by the beginning of | September. Paramount Theatres, Limited, is a $16,000,000 corporation, of which Lord Beaverbrook is the head. It is at present building a $1,000,000 theatre in Toronto for Pantages vaudeville, and also controls the Re- gent, Strand and Alhambra theatres in Toronto, and two large houses in Hamilton. It has leased the Strand Theatre, this city, and has arranged for the erection of forty-three theatres in Canada before the end of 1921. Kingstonians will be pleased to learn that Pantages vaudeville will be shown at the new Kingston theatre. The spending of three- quarters of a million dollars in the erection of new entertainment enter- prises alone fn this city during the coming spring and summer will give employment to a large number of men and provide the city with first- class picture and vaudeville enter-| tainment, Hm Some silence may be golden, but most of it is ironical.
