Death of John C, Stafford, of Leeds, Aged Seventy-nine Years--Hotel Man Lost Twenty-one Dollars. (Gananoque, Sept. 29.--~The death '0¢- curred on Tuesday evening of another of the pioneers of Leeds township, in the person of John C. Stafiord, who passed away at his home, Front of Leeds and Lassdowne, after an illness extending over several months. De cetmexd was in the seventyainth year of his age. Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Russell, of Hamilton; Wes Jey, of Seeley's Bay, and William, of Gananoque; also one danghter, Mrs. OC. W. MeNeill, Hamilton. There were nine orders in the book which eould be filled up to a sum of 850 each, and a couple of weeks ago one order was cashed at Stratford, by the Canadian Express, for $40. It was found that Mr, Nairn's name had forged. At the trial, in St. Thomas, the acoused was found guilty, and Magistrate Hunt gave him two years in the penitentiary. The prisoner arrived at the poni- tentiary, 'on Thursday morning.
