In the decease of William Abernethy, of Ordnance street, on Tuesday after- oon, his family loses a devoted hus- yand and father, and Kingston one of its most genial and kindhearted citizen a universal favorite with his host of 'riends and acquaintances. He was a resident of Kingston for nearly sixty years, coming here whén a mere lad, with his parents, from the township of Kingston, which was bis birth place, ind he resided here ever since. He was stricken with an apoplectic stroke two weeks ago und never regained con- sciousness. The late Mr. Abernethy was a member of the A. O.UW, and was al- so one of the veteran members of 1.0. 0.F., being connected with Kingston lodge for nearly forty years. He was 5 veteran of the 1865-66 troubles. In re lifion he was a Methodist, an adherent of Brack stewet church, and in former years one of the standbys of the Old Primitive Methodist church. He was qo staunch liberal in politics. Besides his widow he is survived by five daughters and one son : Mrs. T. M. Asselstine, Kingston; Mrs, H. 'N. Ewmmous, East Orange, N.J.: Misses Maud and Ethel, New York; Norman, fy inhipeg aed Hazel at home. Mrs. . A.
