It is the belief in railway circles, that, with the retirement of F. H. McGuigan, from the service of the Grand Trunk, that the office of fourth vice-president will be abolished, it having been created practically for him. The expectation is that W. G. Brownlee, of the middle division, To- ronto, and M. 8. Blaiklock, of the eastern division, will, hereafter, take care of what remains of MeGuigan's work, PERSONAL MENTION. The chairman, Mr. Henry J. B. Kendall, stated that the favorable showing was in a measure due to the change in the financial situ- ation in the United States, where the results had been somewhat disappoint- ing owing to the low rates previously ruling for money in New York. The profits for the half year, after making liberal provision for bad and doubtful debts, amounted to £67,255. Added to this amount carried forward in June last of £37,861 there was a sum of £105,116. Of this £20,000 had been transferred to the reserve funds. mak- ing it now stand at £460,000. The building programme for the current vear would require at least £20,000, Alter the -dividend of 6 per cent., plus one per cent. bonus, had been paid the sum of £19,610 was left to carry to the next account. The quick assets, according to the statement, amount to $17,186,589.27, and the total as- sets are $19.961,198.17. COBALT STOCKS. Furnished By J. 0. Hutton, 18 Market Street. AN ULEEMAFUM)( Spring.
