There ,.was an immense audience at the Grand Opera House last evening, to greet the return of the Marks com- pany, who will hold the boards for the week. The company is a well-bal- anced one, gnd is bound to win popu- lar favor before the close of their en- gagement. The play presented was "The Garrison Girl," the scene being laid at a military post near a mining camp in 'the far west. The appearance of the charming Kitty Marks was greeted with applause by her admir: ers. In her character of "Polly 'Tre vor," she appeared to good advant- age. She held the interest of her audi- ence by her clever delineation of 'her part and won well-merited applause. Little Rosie Machan, as an. Indian child, both in her make up and jar gon, was very realistic. For one so young, she is a marvel. Alice Pamp- lin and Ivy E. Lyon, in their several parts, did well. J. N. Machan, in his difficult role of "Captain Kent," a daring scoundrel, gave a very charac teristic interpretation of his part. B. H.
