FILL ORDERS ROSIN'ON THE CLOTHES AND FLOORS 8 ing one were to rosin the Mtge floors weekly, what would be the result 2 The clothes would become hard and uncomfortable, and catch all the passing dirt readily, and the floors would be so sticky that they would be the more susceptible to dirt and disease. Yet many Wwo- men do rosin their clothes and floors weekly without know g it. Rosin is all very well in its Place, but cost ing, as it does, about one-third the price of pure oils, it is made to take the place of oils in soap, and that is one reason why one can purchase such a large lump of common Soap for the same price as a pure tablet of Sunlight Soap. The rosin part of common soap is no value to you; but the re- verse. That's why one wash with Sunlight Soap is worth two washes with common Soap. Of course, you don't see the, excess rosin in common soap; that's part of the trick; but it is there all the same, and the effect is to give you double labor to little result. If you want rosin for your clothes and floors there is no necessity why you should pay for it at the price of oils. 610 Practice AND Experience Has taught us, that the best way to succeed in business is to say what we mean. When selling a suit, overcoat, or in fact, anything we handle, we explain the qualities of the goods as well as the faults, if there are any. Knowing the nature of the article, you can judge for yourself. You'll get what you expect. Here are the facts: We keep clothing that is up-to-date. Our gent's furnishings are the latest, and the furs we ° scll have no rival. Don't miss it. JOS. SILVER. (Successor to B. Silver,) 102 PRINCESS STREET. Cold Weather Calls for VOTE IN, TONTENAC. Toronto, Dec. 6.--Local coal dealers are again taking orders for hard coal, but are cutting the orders in two where possible, supplying half hard and half soft coal. They express them- selves as hopeful of extending the field of distribution as the cold weather ap- proaches. The World, to-day, publishes what it says is a very definite report, that the Evening News has been bought by the Willison-Flavelle svndicate. It is commonly understood, the World adds, that several well known local newspaper men have been "engaged, among others a chief editorial writer. The News, the World says further, is to be retained as an afternoon journ- al, with a morning edition. The trial of the liberal petition against Hugh Clark, M.P.P.. the con- servative member elect in Centre Bruce, has been postponed indefinitely. This leaves every election protest on the list now tried, except the con- servative petition against Hon. E. J. Davis, in North York, and the reform petition acainst Andrew Miscampbell in Sault Ste. Marie. It is announced that as soon as the complete returns . of the referendum vote are known, a meeting of the lead- ine temperance workers will be held here, probably the week after next, to decide upon what step to take next. The proceedings began with an address from the presi- dent, J. Ross Robertson, after which the members were Mr. Robertson's guests at luncheon. The referendum figures this morning are those of the latest returns available till 1 a.m., and show 128,813 votes for the act and 76.469 against it. This gives a ma- jority at present of 52,346, so that the claim of the prohibition leaders, that the majority will be over 60,000, seems to be a very reasonable one.
