Remembrance Day Holiday - Mon. Nov. 12th 10:00 Am - 8:00 pm The federal government is investing more than $2.1 million in an Oakville LED lighting technology com- pany as part of its commit- ment to growing a strong clean-growth economy. Navdeep Bains, Minis- ter of Innovation, Science and Economic Develop- ment made the announce- ment Friday, Oct. 12, dur- ing a visit to GVA Lighting, Inc., at 2771 Bristol Circle. GVA Lighting, Inc. has been in operation since 1997 and is a leading manu- facturer of architectural interior and exterior light- ing systems used for sky- scrapers, bridges, airports, stadiums and shopping malls worldwide. Bains, who is also the minister responsible for the Federal Economic De- velopment Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), says the local company is poised to scale up and be more innovative and competitive with its leading-edge, energy-effi- cient LED lighting technol- ogy. "GVA Lighting is lead- ing the way to a more inno- vative and competitive manufacturing sector at home and around the world," said Bains. "Today's investment will create nearly 50 more jobs in Oakville and will help GVA Lighting reach new markets, building on our ambitious plan to turn Canada's economic strengths into global suc- cesses." The FedDev Ontario in- vestment will enable GVA Lighting to purchase lead- ing-edge equipment to scale up production capac- ity at its new 98,000-square- foot facility in Oakville. This expansion project will create up to 49 full- time jobs and help improve product testing and design for extreme environmental conditions. The project is also ex- pected to help the company grow its presence in exist- ing and new export mar- kets. "Our government's in- vestment in GVA Lighting Inc., will help strengthen the local clean-growth manufacturing sector and will lead to the creation of new jobs in the Oakville ar- ea," said Oakville MP John Oliver. "With FedDev Ontario support, GVA Lighting will increase existing capabili- ties in the Oakville region and at the same time rein- force Ontario's position as home to Canada's Ad- vanced Manufacturing Su- percluster." The investment was welcomed by GVA Lighting Inc. president Vladimir Grigorik. "This FedDev Ontario contribution allows GVA Lighting to triple its pro- duction capacity and in- vest in manufacturing and reliability-engineering equipment so we are ready to accept orders for chal- lenging megaprojects from all over the world," he said. Grigorik noted the Fed- Dev Ontario contribution will leverage an additional $6.4 million in investment from the private sector. FedDev Ontario was created in 2009 by the feder- al government to promote the development of a strong and diversified southern Ontario econo- my. It seeks to accomplish this goal through: • The delivery of strate- gic investments to busi- nesses, not-for-profit orga- nizations and communities • The establishment and strengthening of collabora- tive partnerships with key economic stakeholders • Representing the re- gion's interests on a nation- al level FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INVESTS MORE THAN $2.1 MILLION IN OAKVILLE LED LIGHTING TECHNOLOGY BUSINESS Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development announces FedDev investment of more than $2.1 million in Oakville's GVA Lighting Inc.
