The town's planning and development council considered the Avid Ho- tel application from Em- press Capital Group, on Monday, Oct. 1. The developer is ask- ing for zoning changes to permit the building of a seven-storey hotel at 170 North Service Rd. W. The proposed hotel would have a gross floor area of 5,146 square me- tres, 114 hotel rooms, amenities for guests in- cluding a lobby, fitness centre, breakfast area, outdoor patio, indoor pool, meeting facilities and "back of house" facil- ities (employee areas, mechanical facilities and corridors). The developer has pre- viously said the con- struction of the hotel would create 25-full-time jobs, probably an equal number of part-time po- sitions, and bring more customers to the restau- rants and retail business- es of Dorval Crossing.
