They're walking the walk. In fact a team of 33 local grandmothers covered 22,177 kilometres - 3,393 more than their original goal - over a five-month pe- riod (Jan. 12-May 31). They capped the cam- paign with a Halton-Peel Stride to Turn the Tide cel- ebratory walk in down- town Oakville on June 9. To date the fundraising event has brought in $17,815 for the Stephen Lewis Foundation's Grandmoth- ers to Grandmothers cam- paign, which helps care for children orphaned by AIDS. Donations are being ac- cepted until the end of the month, and can be made at www.stridetoturnthetide- .ca.
