On Thursday of last week a young man named Frank Cooper, of Norland, who is employed in Phillip's shingle mill at Coboconk, had the first three fingers of his right hand split about half their length by the saw known as the "jointer." The injuries, which were very serious, were dressed by Dr. ......... of that village. The position at the "jointer" appears to be the most dangerous one in the mill; but we have been repeatedly assured that no mechanical device to lessen the risk of accidents can be invented, and that eternal vigilance is the price of fingers.
.....On Wednesday of this week John English, of Burnt River, an employee in Burgoyne's shingle mill at the Falls, had the middle joint of the third finger of his left hand badly mangled, and--almost as a matter of course--it was the "jointer" that did it. He went to Dr. Wilson, who put in a couple of stitches and bound up the finger, and Mr. English expects to be able to go back to work in a few days.
