Description
- Full Text
The late Mr. Hardy created what is known as the system of national or Provincial Parks. A park in the northern districts had been spoken of for many years, and Mr. Hardy in the early years of his Commissionership took up the project and set aside the Algonquin National Park containing over 1,000,000 acres, for the protection of the headwaters of a number of the considerable rivers in the north and for preserving forever to the people of Ontario a vast tract of natural forest, as a health resort and as a perpetual game preserve. The success and popularity of this policy have been unexpectedly great.
