Apparently, the Fenelon Agricultural Society has in some way offended the Clerk of the Weather, as he did his best to spoil their show in this village on Tuesday last; but was only partially successful, for in spite of mud, wind and rain the exhibition was a very fair one; though of course the entries were far less numerous than they would have been under more propitious circumstances. The out-door department suffered the worst, there being but few cattle, horses, sheep or pigs upon the ground; but in the last two classes quality made up for deficiency in numbers, the sheep and swine that took the prizes being remarkably good. At the usual spot on the south side of the field Messrs. Robson & Robson, of the Cameron Lake Foundry, had about half a dozen agricultural implements, which were much admired, especially an improved fanning mill, which all who examined it pronounced much superior to the old kind, though it is very little dearer. Upon the "indoor department," which this year was in Ingram's hall, the weather had a less injurious effect, and there was a capital display, not only of grain, roots, fruit, vegetables, dairy produce, &e., but of useful and ornamental articles of domestic manufacture, many of which showed a marked improvement upon any we remember having seen exhibited at previous shows. A set of blacksmiths' hammers and other small tools made by Mr. Burley, and some leather and mats tanned by Mr. Fielding, attracted a good deal of attention, one calf skin in particular being pronounced equal to the best "French calf" by compentent judges. The following is the
