Mareh 1i1,.. 1948 Johnny Campbell, who operates Campbell's Fruit Store on Timothy Street West, has purchased the grocery store at 192 Main Street, from George Knowles and plans to open a modern groceteria there in approximately three weeks. Mr. Campbell said "He will try to open for business by April lst or before." The Fruit Market on Timothy Street will be continued as usual. The Knowles Store has been in the family for over half a century. George Knowles has been operating it for fifteen years. His father started a wholesale business in the same location over fifty years ago. Mr. J. S. Law, presented a shield to the Newmarket Lawn Bowling Club on behalf of The Dixon Pencil Company, Newmarket, . for annual competition. The late T.F. Doyle being the first winner.
