MINSTREL SHOWS BY NEWMARKET C1T1ZENS_§A§Q__:_§§§§§§§§Z Shows were held in the Town Hall on Botsford Street and the minstrels always played to full houses. The show in 1939 was sponsored by the Newmarket Citizens Band. The cast, headed by the band always went on parade from the Town Hall, south on Main Street to Water Street, and returned by the same route. Crowds lined the Main Street to greet the minstrels and like the pied piper enticed the local folk to come and enjoy the greatest show on earth. These famous minstrels headed by that super star "Ang West" gave shows that were masterpieces.
