Last Monday night there was a Dance in King‘s Hall, Wednesday night the regular weekly dance at South End, Thursday night a dance after the Hockey Match, Friday night the regâ€" wlar dance in the Masonic Hall and Melntyre Recreation Hall, Saturday night a dance in King‘s Hall. And on Tuesday night there were at least two private dances in town. (a8y (Mr. Jas. Kingston, one of the oldâ€" timers of the North Land, is the now manager of the Hotel Iroquois, Iroâ€" quois Falls. ‘Mr. Kingston has been connected with a number of leading hotels in this part of the north, being a pionger in this line. . He built the Kingston House at South Poreupine and other leading hotels in the north, while more recently he was in charge of the hotel at Smooth Rock Falls. Lately he was residing in New Lisâ€" keard. In addition to the several improveâ€" ments recently made in the ‘*boards"‘ at the Hamilton, B. ‘Wills office here, there has been other upâ€"toâ€"date imâ€" provements in the office furnishings. The counter has ‘been replaced by a partition and wicket that brings the office right up to the minute in equipâ€" ment,. BORNâ€"At Mattagami Heights, on Mohday, December 2%th, 1921, to Mr, and Mrs. E. St. Cyr,â€"a son. Two very pleasing dances were heid in King‘s Hall during the past week, one after the Hockey match on Thursday evening and the other on Saturday night to see the old year out and the new year in. Both were well attended and all present had a very good time. Mr., Donald Cameron returned last Thursday from his home in Buckingâ€" ham where he spent the Christinas holdiavs. The dance at Schumacher on Friday at the Mclntyre Recveation Hall was the usual wellâ€"attended and enjoyable success. [There are many these days expressâ€" ing their opinion that the Millenium is near or here. And if there should ever come a Janaury without a hot municipal contest in Tisdale: Townâ€" ship we would all begin to believe in the Millenuium Dawn all right; Mr. Lyall Alexander returned this week to Toronto, after spending the past two weeks in Timmins. Mr. A. 8. Fuller returned on Sunâ€" day from a visit to the south and east. ‘The next regular meeting of thé Caledonian Society of Timmins will be held in the 1.0.0.F. Borland was the host at a pleasant little banquet in the fire hall on ThursQay evening after the hockey match, the guests being the boys of the brigade, the chairman of the department and one or two other special friends of the Brigade. The turkey and all the rest of the ‘‘eats‘‘ were delicious, cooked just right, and there was a good social time enjoyad by all present. [The gathering was closed with three hearty cheers for the Fire Chief, for Councillor L. 8. Newâ€" ton, Chairman of the Fire and Light Committee, and for Mrs. Borland who always has a kindly thought and care for the boys of the Brivade. Fire believed to have originated in a defective chimney, destroyed four buildings at Englehart last week and caused a loss estimated at about $10,â€" 000.00._ The buildings destroyed were Demers‘ boarding house, Clark & Cooâ€" ley‘s boarding house, C. .‘Palangi ‘3 building and M@Pherson’%"bnkery. The premises of (Mr. Keast, tailor, were also damaced. Last Wednesday in the Intermediâ€" ate series Haileybury won from Coâ€" balt with a score of 7 to 1. Specik got three of the goals for Haileybury, @nd had a hand in some other seores. «Dr. ‘Mitchell returned last week afâ€" ter spending the holidays in Toronto. (Mr. Taylor Pipe was elected Mayor of Cobalt on Monday by a majority of about 50 over Thomas Reilly. _ The Cobalt _ Council elected _ comprises Messrs. Lafrange, ‘Reckin, (Lowery, Fortin, Pauze and Drew. A ‘‘Hard Times‘‘ Dance is the feaâ€" ture at the MelIntyre Hall, Schumachâ€" er, on Tuesday evening next, January 10th, Melntyre Hall dances are alâ€" ways interesting and enjoyable and this one no doubt will be up to the usual high standard. It is intended to establish a ceritral at Kirkland Lake.
