Merry Christmas! REGULATIONS REGARDING HOISTHNG ROPE TESTS The amendment to the Mining Act, passed in 1919, regarding testing a portion of hoisting ropes, comes in force next year, at varying times. The new regulation is laid down in Rule 68, Section 164, of the Mining Amendâ€" ment Act, and is as follows: f ‘*At least once in every six months the hoisting rope shall have a portion not less than six feet in length eut off the lower end. With the excepâ€" tion of the cutting at the end of the first six months the length so cut off shall have the ends adequately fasâ€" tened with binding wire to prevent the disturbance of the strands and shall be sent to a reliable testing labâ€" oratory for a breaking test. The cerâ€" tificate of such test shall be kept on file. ‘This rule shall not come into efâ€" fect until proclaimed by the Lieutenâ€" ant Governor in Council."
