A. McInnis was elected President one Timmins man expressed a general view when he said, "Now we will get some life and aetion." Since that annual meeting there have been life and action in plen ty in the Associated Boards and much has been accomplished of great useful mess to the North Land. Those with foresight can easily see that the Asso- ciated Boards of Trade will become a power for good and progress for the North Land if it receives the due sup- port of the various communities. If It does not receive that support it can scarcely be said to have an excuse for existence at all. The North Land has pressing need for an authoritative voice to express its wants and wishes. the m-opcrat tions may be tun This tieve‘iopnu'ni hmvm'vr requires iyoiuda'ciov, it requires settlement ol' hind, it requires roads and many other things which are a common ne- cessity to all the towns in this dis- trict; therefore, it is perfectly obvious to me that nothing should be done or undertaken in this district by the Go- vernment that is not to the greatest good of the greatest number in this district. It is also perfectly obvious to me that any project that is propos- 1lUF ...., -tP.-.. Therefore until such time as we have a meeting in February. 1 am taking the stand, as President of this Assoeiation, that I will oppose all projects that have not been refer- ;red to the Associated Boards of Trade land which the. Associated Boards of l‘rade are not hat-k of'. In doing this, I am fully aware of the fact that it will arouse criticism, but out of that oritieism l expect sullieient interest will be created so as to ultimately de- velop a real constructive sentiment. marrow) eveumg. A very attractive booklet came to hand last week entitled "The Great Dog Races of The North. Record of the Races of Alaska and Manitoba." The Past Herald is responsible for the booklet, and is to be complimented and commended both on the matter and the manner of presentation. The printing is clear and pleasing: and the number of tutts illustrating the book- let. are especially attractive.
