The Rev. H. Avant died at Bobcaygeon on Christmas eve, aged 33 years. Mr. Avant has been an incumbant of the parish for several years, and has done a good work. He was beloved not only by his own people, but by all to whom he became known. He had been in delicate health some weeks, but to symptoms calculated to alarm his friends manifested themselves until a few days before his death. He was then removed from the parsonage to the house of Mr. Boyd where he had all the care and attention that love and affection could suggest and bestow. He was buried on Wednesday last in the Verulam cemetery, and was followed to the grave by an immense number of mourning friends, no only from the parish but from Peterborough, Lindsay, and elsewhere.Mr. Avant was unmarried, and had no relatives in this country, but leaves behind him a host of friends and a blessed memory. He died on the anniversary of his ordination.
