Mrs. William J. Smith, of 50 Robinson Street North, Grimsby, died last Wednesday at Toronto General Hospital. She had been ill for some time.

Born in England in 1886, the former Amy Russell and the daughter of the late John and Sarah Russell, Mrs. Smith came to Canada as a young woman, residing in the Orangeville and Grand Valley districts before moving to Grimsby several years ago. She was a member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church.

Predeceased by her husband in March this year, Mrs. Smith leaves two sons, Russell, of Grimsby, and Alex of Hamilton; two daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Slaght and Mrs. Angus (Viola) Clark, both of Port Arthur; 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and a sister in England.

The funeral service was held on Saturday at Stonehouse Funeral Home with burial following in Queen's Lawn Cemetery, Grimsby, with Rev. E.A.Brooks officiating.

Casket bearers were Mike Sweet, William Hill, Harold Smith, Frank McPhail, Edw. Sullivan and Jack Fulford.
