Starting out again the tour took the party through St. Anns to Wellandport, along the road to‘ Fenwick to the town line between Linâ€" coln and Welland, along the town line to the west road through Bisâ€" mark, returning to Smithville, then travelling west along the old Buckbee road, north through Grassies, west on the ridge road to the Wentworth Counâ€" ty line, returning on the ridge road to the County stone quarry. : The Stone Quarries The tour also included a trip to the Grimsby quarry, a quarry abanâ€" doned by the County because of the damage being done to surrounding property, due to the â€"heéavy â€" charges. This quarry, if cleaned up, would make an ideal picnic or camping ground. During the spring and early summer there is â€"a natural water fall and the spot is one of natural beauty, unimproved by man‘s hand. acre of land for $2,500. This airâ€" drome is used to house the road machinery of the County and also contains a work shop where the reâ€" pair of tools is carried on. . About half of the machinery in the ‘shed is for sale, including road rollers and general road machinery. The Beamsville quarry on the ridge road is now being worked and some excellent stone is being taken out. It has now become necessary to start blasting further back from the old seat of operations and this work is to be carried out. ; From the Beamsvillé quarry the party motored down the Parkâ€" Mounâ€" tain and on into Beamsville. The trip in total covered 145 miles, of which it has been estimated 100 miles were over County roads. A further incentive to the building of improved roads has been given to Townships by the Provincial Governâ€" ment in their recent announcement that hereafter the Province would bear 50 per cent. of the salary of Township road superintendents and 30 per cent. of the cost ‘of construction. This is an increase of 10 per cent. in each case. The Province also pays 40 per cent. on all maintenance and vonstructior on County roads.
