No it is not the accumulation of wealth. | No it is not the empty glory and plaudits of the fickle | erowd, No it is not the powerful control of finances. No | it is not the power over men. The main purpose of life | is to live that we leave behind a path that will enable those who are following us to attain true happiness and be ready when the end comes to hear on that last day the word well done that has been faithful enter into | everiasting life and joy. | Page 1 â€" THE TIMES ADVERTISER â€"â€" Thursday, August 30, 1962 It was a word from one of those young men just| entering their twenty years of vast experience. They | reminded the writer that it was time to slow up and | watch my steps. It made him think and realize that the[ brain does not act as quickly as it did, that there is not | the same coâ€"ordination and response from the muscles[ and the nerves to direct the right course to be taken,| that the eyes are not just as quick as they were and | that the speach is a little slower. All these facts must | be driven home. They come as a shock to many. Yet | nature does give every warning. They sound out thel signals to tell of the dangers that are ahead. It does seem strange that we who have travelled so far along | life‘s path are not willing to observe these signs till we are stricken. Then when incapacitated we do sit down! and accept the situation when it is to late. It is time to watch very carefully each step and to slow down before an accident or an organic breakâ€" down does occur. You can not burn the candle at both ends and become a centenarian. Who wants to live to be as old as that you ask? Well life is sweet. There is a definite purpose in our existence on earth. There are many things that are to be done. There are experâ€" iences through which we have passed that should be handed on to those who are following behind us. There are dangerous ways of life to be avoided that we have seen destroy most promising men and women. There are works to be completed that locked in our brains. Yes life is filled with adventure, with sadness and disâ€" appointment, with joys and happiness but the greatest reward in life lies in the fact that your life has been given to assist some one who is stumbling along life‘s hazzardous, rough, unchartered pathway. Life is sweet and we are called upon to take it in our stride as we grow older. , â€" It is a hard lesson to learn, Some how we do not seem to realize that we are growing older each day. Our physical, mental and agility is slowly waning. Our judgement is not just so keen as it was and we find that our movements are not so certain. We do not realize these facts until we try to keep up with those younger than we are, who set the pace that we would follow. However it does come to us when we see that we can not follow the lead of those younger friends. Nothing stops our thinking that we are just as capable as we were until we are suddenly faced with a fall or a sudâ€" den weakness of one of our organs or rushed to a hosâ€" pital bed after the doctor has been called. This stops all those ideas that we are supermen or women. It is indeed a hard lesson to learn after you have been actâ€" ive for over ten decades. They are assembled to discuss ways and means of putâ€" ting into effect the teachings of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Through committee _ studies _ conducted over the years, through changâ€" ing conditions of living and interâ€" pretation they are looking for means of presenting the truths in present day understanding, through well trained leaders and Clergy in every department church activity they aim at inâ€" troducing means whereby they can strengthen the spiritual life of the people. After 19 years of careful study and preparation the New Angliâ€" can Prayer Book was officially passed. _ It is now the official book of the Anglican Church of Canada. The Question of Unity with the Other denominations has a high place on the agenda of the house of Bishops and the lower house of the General Synod. The observer to Rome and the hopes for a better understanding has its place beâ€" fore these two bouses. This great body which meet every three years is the adminiâ€" strative head of the Canadian Anglican _ Church. Delegates from each Diocesan Synod are elected. They are appointed to the various departments of the Church‘s main committees. It is in these committees that the main work is undertaken. Special committees make the study of the other objectives of the Synod. ST. JOHN‘S ANGLICAN CHURCH More people are attending the Early celebration service than usual this summer. .
