Transfiguration Wins As St Gregory‘s Team Defaults The Humber Valley Catholic Men‘s Softball League saw a hard battle at Brookhaven between St. Benedict‘s and St. John‘s on June 12th. Lorne Dinan pitched a fine game and Bob Astolfe starred both in the field and at bat. For the B team John Petrie looked good at third. Also on June 14th, St. Beneâ€" dict‘s Y.P.C. defeated St. John‘s Y.P.C. 106. Leo Snell was the star for the winners and Pat Hennesey had three for four and starred at shortstop for St. John‘s Y.P.C. The next game will be held on June 21st at Wellesworth, St. Benedict‘s vs. St. Benedict‘s Y.P.C., and the same day at Gray, St. Philip‘s B vs. Transfiguration. On June 26th St. Philip‘s B vs. St. John‘s at Brookhaven. Transfiguration plays St. Philâ€" ip‘s A at Wellesworth on June 27th. Rexdale was undefeated up to this point and St. Paul‘s who have been the underdogs were very jubilant. The future plans of the league include the forming of a tyke division, and all clubs of the league are to consider the operatâ€" ing of such a division next seaâ€" League games will commence June 25 and end August 24. Playâ€" offs will be held in the last week of August and the first two weeks of September. Three divisions, Novice, Pee Wee Bantam will operate in the league.
