His first feature win of the new season came for Mac Bound at the Pinecrest Speedway on Saturday â€" and, for what he had to do for it, it should be one victory he‘s going to reâ€" member for quite a while. En route to the checkered flag, Mac Bound: (1) lined up three times, including two comâ€" plete restarts; (2) raced around two major pileups; (3) caught Mac Bound Rides Through 2 Jams In First Lap To Post First Feature Win Of Season in e ommraminia ninie‘s n e h!}.l.l--.-‘-.u-l,i-. a® ---l'-'-:"u.u'll "2"s"a"n"s"a"n n n a_a e '..%.."“. m “- w .-.-.‘-‘- -. s .I T @ m m a m _A I-I .‘N-I.I:I.I-I.I-I'n. m I-I m l.I w_e _ o m i:-':l-i'::-':::-‘:-t-‘.:.'::;b:-:-::-5-':::‘-'-.-'-'-‘-.-'-Z-‘-'-‘-'-'-‘-'-'-'-Z'-':-“:-‘l'-:-1'-:-':-'-::-J-'::-:-:::3:-:=:=:-:=:===-:=::=::-:::=:!:2:=:=:=-=-:-:::- t w ‘=l C ® w o_ um m"a"e‘s w e o e uomm nle 1 -'.-'.-'a-w.--!-----.-:-.-:-:-.-:-:-:-:t-‘.-‘.-‘.-'.-‘:,u-'.'-':-'.'-:‘-:'-:'.ff:::':':-:-:-:-:=:-:-:'-1-:-'.-'.-:-:n:-:-:‘::’.:';'.'.:'.:‘.-':-:-:-:-:-:-':-,. mm m m m m m n m IlI-l-l.l-I-l'I-I.l-l'l..-..-:--I-I.I-I-I.I-l' d l-l.l-.-.-..a LCs Ca_m e a~ PePePeLeC® 5'5%.--. 53%53 ::;:::2:. Of the 20 cars which started in the 25â€"lap feature, only nine were in at the finish of the race which had 10 payoff posiâ€" tions. Every finisher picked up points for the night‘s work. Lions Bring Carnival To West â€" End A carnival to last till Saturâ€" day evening, was launched at the Crang Plaza this Monday by. the Toronto "400" ;Lions The first jam came with only a halfâ€"lap completed. Five cars went to the sidelines as a result of this pileup, with Jack Bird of Toronto taking an ambulance trip to hospital for xâ€"rays of an injured leg. Four others were out of the running as the reâ€" sult of damaged cars â€" Ivan Moore, Sam ‘Snider, Jack Cook and Dave Stephenson. Club When the tow trucks had finâ€" ished tidying up the trackâ€" and with still less than one lap completed â€"11 racers lined up for the third time. Jim Stevenâ€" son pushed into an early lead and held on for better than 19 laps. With action in the Northern Etobicoke Boys‘ Church Softball League now into its third week, Then came the second start â€" and after exactly oneâ€"quarter of a lap there was another jam. Cecil Gray, Ted Sanderson, Jerâ€" ry Watson and Glen Whitehead all went to the pits on this one. It was just short of the 20th lap that Bound took over from Stevenson. In the run down to Albion Gardens Off To Early Lead In Northern Etobicoke Ball Loop FATHERâ€"ANDâ€"SON ACT from the diving board at the Italian Gardens swimming pool in Humber Summit found Doug Richardson, swim instructor at the Gardens, and his son, Max, in an exhibition of diving which combined skill with comedy. The performance put on by these two resiâ€" dents of Humber Summit was part of a water carnival held last Sunday at the Italian Gardens, in line with the proâ€" gram of Sunday features staged throughout the outdoor season. Florence Chadwick, originally billed for last Sunâ€" day‘s show, presumably took the wrong turn at the wrong buoy on some waterway or other while en route to the Iialian Gardens. Lou Fontinato, manager at the Gardens, is rumored to be assembling a pair of teams for a baseball game which is likely to give Abner Doubleday something to think aboutâ€"wherever he is. SPEEDWAY â€" No. 7 HIGHWAY 11 BIG EVENTS â€" LADIES & JALOPIES the flag, Bound held off the reâ€" surgent Stevenson to post a quarterâ€"lap victory. _ _ Albion Gardens Presbyterian apâ€" pears to be fielding the team which should take all the marbles. Murray Acreman finished in third place behind Stevenson. George Symons, in fourth spot, was followed by Tony. Carcone and Jim Hallahan. At the north turn on the 22nd lap Hallahan piled into the inside hub rail, an incident which cost him an almost sure thirdâ€"place finish. In the season‘s opener against Rexdale Presbyterian the Gardâ€" eners posted a 15 to 9 win. Last week, facing a determined squad from St. Matthias, the Albion Gardens team held on to a oneâ€" run margin in a real slugfest to take a 13 to 12 victory. Mac Bound‘s win gave him topâ€"man honors in the points division for the night; he picked up, an even 13. His total of 37 to date puts him in a tie with George Symons. Jim Hallahan‘s nine points for the night brought him into a standoff with Sam Snider for second place with 26. & By Sharon Clancy The Woodbridge boys‘ baseâ€" ball team played a return match at Kleinburg last Tuesday and were déefeated 15â€"13. s In the 8â€"lap race for ladies there was also some jamming and piling up, with one reâ€"start called. Betty Carcone continued a winner, with Lorraine Hallaâ€" han second. and Jo Cresswell placing third. Jack Bird‘s xâ€"rays were favâ€" orable and he was discharged from hospital, all set to go again at Pinecrest. Summary First heat (12 laps)â€"1. Carâ€" men Cote; 2. Jack Bird; 3. Ted Sanderson. Cutâ€"rates on season‘s tickets to the Weston Swimming pool ar being offered throughout the town and surrounding areas of North York and Etobicoke beâ€" tween now and the end of June, officials of the Weston Area Swimming Pool Association anâ€" nounced this week. Administrative problems made it impossible to arrange for seaâ€" son ticket distripution through the schools in North York and Etobicoke, it was revealed. For that reason the home and school arrangement was worked out. THE LONG AWAITED "break in the weather" finally came and members of the Weston Lawn Bowling Club were quick to take advantage of the fine, warm evenings of the past week to launch the 1961 season.
