Mrs. Wilson of Albion Rd. has returned home from a visit to Hamilton, Ont. The Youth for Christ Rally held Saturday in Humber Summit was well attended. Those who missed getting out missed a great treat in hearing the singing and the testiâ€" mony in music, Little David Spattâ€" afora, who is only three and a half, sang two solos, "It‘s in My Heart," and "Down in the Valley." Mr, Clifford Taylor rendered two beautiful solos. Mr. Spattafora was the guest speaker for the evening. The December 4 meeting of the Home and School will be in the form of a millionaires night. All adults welcome. There will be bingo, games and square dancing. Proceeds are for school equipment. On now radio signals have been bounced off the moon. It would be an even greater exploit to make bouncing cheques bounce off the moon. Correspondent: Mrs. Carbis Mr. T. Young and his committee have been working hard on the arrangements for the Ratepayers‘ Christmas party which will be held Saturday afternoon, Dec. 15, at 1.30, and with what they have reâ€" vealed, it looks as though the chilâ€" dren are going to have quite an afternoon. The original plan has been changed to one that includes every child up to nine years of age in the Pelmo Park area, extending from Jane St. to Wadsworth Ave. Santa will have a gift for each, and refreshments will be served. In the evening, a social gathering will be held for all the parents and children, ten and over. Funds are being raised by volunâ€" tary donations. Those who have not been contacted and wish to contribute, or volunteer their serâ€" vices are requested to get in touch with Mr. T. Young, 47 Dalbeattie Ave., 1577â€"J. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. McGregar, 33 Falstaff Ave., celebrated their 39th anniversary on Nov. 20. Sincere wishes for their continued happiness is extended to them by their neighbours and friends. Diane Nutt, 31 Falstaff Ave., had her fifth birthday on Sunday the 25th. Our neighbour Maurice Hook, candidate for deputyâ€"reeve, will have to take time out from his electioneering activities to celeâ€" brate Freda‘s and his wedding ainiversary this week. Happy birthday to Sheila White of Kames Ave. Hope to see little Linda Smith out soon. She has been a "shut in" long enough. A meeting was held in the Pelmo Park School on Wednesday, Nov. 21, to give the local voters an opportunity to meet the candidates in the forthcoming _ municipal elections Dec. 3rd, Although the attendance was disappointing, those who were there found the meeting to be both educational and interâ€" esting. The points as explained by the various speakers, enabled the people present to get a clearer idea of the issues at stake. Mae and Jack Dickey also have an anniversary coming up soon. Congratulations! Unfortunately, due to an overâ€" crowded schedule, Reeve N. Boylen who had been expected to speak did not arrive in time for the meeting. Now that we have our own school it seems a grand opportunâ€" ity for some public spirited citizens who enjoy working with children to organize local groups of Scouts, Cubs, Girl Guides, etc. These organizations contribute a lot to the morale of the boys and girls and help by their training to turn them into solid citizens. Many of the children now belong to groups of this nature, but situated in other districts. Both the distance and darkness they have to cope with are a constant worry to the parâ€" ents. _ Therefore local activities would be supported and appreciated by‘ all. * Pelmo Park School is becoming the pride of our community. The boys and girls are taking a great interest in their school work and sports, and their enthusiasm has certainly not been in vaip. They have achieved one of the greatest victories by bringing to their school the "Senior Boys‘ Monday night, Nov. 26 was the night of our Kingsview Village Community _ Association _ social. Nextweek in this column, we will be able to give you the complete details, as this week‘s column has to be submitted a day too soon. We do wish to thank the Weston and Dixon Rd. merchants for the lovely prizes they so generously donated for this meeting. Anne and Bert Millis of St. Anâ€" drew‘s Blvd,, are fortunate in havâ€" ing Bert‘s sister, Mrs. Vie Currey and daughter Tommy from Pasaâ€" dina California, visiting with them over the Christmas season. Our apologies to the Misses Benâ€" nott for missing their birthdays last week. Betty and Hugh Benâ€" nett of Kingsview Blvd., have three lovely daughters, all of whom have birthdays in November. Patsy was nine on Nov. 11, Julie was eight on Nov. 7, and Vivian was {our on Nov. 16th. This year, Nov. 10th was elected the day for their joint birthday party, and a wonâ€" derful party, with ‘hundreds of Kids‘ as Vivian told us, was enjoyâ€" ed by all. Your editor drove over the new sectien of the Malton Road on Sunâ€" day, and reports that within a few days we can say "Good bye" to the dreadful detour. Our thanks to Etobicoke Roads Commission for their prompt action in fixing up the detour last Thursdayâ€"after our complaint, although we doubt if they read this column last Wed nesday» A glaciologist of the Norwegian Polar Institute has discovered that the Nigard glacier in the Jostedal Valley, in Western «Nor« way, has shrunk 3,000 feet in length and 210 feet vertically durâ€" ing the last 15 years With winter coming on, it‘s not only in the insurance business that blanket coverage is thourht of. In honour of the occasion, & banquet will be given to the senior football team and their cheerâ€" leaders, who are a group of girls, orzlni‘ed from the senior grades for the purpose of supporting their teams in every game. Although the weather was not always the best, these girls did not fail to follow their team, and cheered them on to victory. Soccer Trophy" from C. B. Parâ€" sons‘ School. The significant part of this honor is the fact that they are the first team of the new school So far there is no Home and School Association in this comâ€" munity but in the reantime some of the citizens huve'%een assisting the school in their needs. Mr. Buss hopes that he can rely on these people to come forward once more and help in the preparations for their soccer team‘s banquet. Your time to show these boys and girls how proud you are of them is now at hand.
