On Saturday, Nov. 3, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Kennedy of 15 Epsom Downs Dr. held a masquerade party which was attended by 20 people and what a time we had trying to discover the face beneath the gruesome mask! One thing we did discover was that "mere men" seem to prefer the female dress and makeâ€"up for there seemed to be an over abundance of ladies when we know the guests were inâ€" vited in mixed pairs. The costumes were really excellent as was the supper we all enjoyed during the evening. Indian Chief (Mr. Ross Remus) won first prize for his costume. The ladies‘ horse race was won by Mrs. Robbie of 16 Epâ€" som Downs Dr., and the spot prize by Mr. and Mrs. Goretsky of 14 Epsom Downs Dr. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Damer, 24 Kirby Road for the safe arrival of Valerie Ann, a sister for Andy and Mary. Cakdale Acres If you are hesitating about starting those Christmas cakes beâ€" cause it seems such a big job to do, here is what we did around our circle of neighborhood friends and had a jolly getâ€"together in the bargain. We spent an afternoon for each house and everyone did a certain job of preparing the cake. One would wash the fruit, another would line the pans with paper, and another would measure the flour, etc. In no time at all everyâ€" thing was ready and mixed and popped into the oven. After that, of course, comes a stop for a cup of tea and a chin wag, and then all the recipient of that batch of cakes had to do was take them out of the oven when they were cooked. You know what they say about "Many hands making light labor." And don‘t go muttering about "Too many cooksâ€"" as we can exhibit some mighty fine cakes to disâ€" prove that one. . Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Wade, 44 Richard Clark Dr., on the safe arrival of a daughter, Cathâ€" erine, on Nov. 4. Several had not, by ’ nightfall that day, realized that a dirty, snowclogged sidewalk outâ€" side a business place is a mighty poor compliment on the folks who operate them. Advertising signs, even if intensified, are probably more acceptable to the average inâ€" dividual, who has no alternative option than to wade through this veritable hodgeâ€"podge in shoes, ‘ totally inadequate for this ordeal. | If such is to be, throughout the five â€" months of hectic weather ahead, well may the businessmen hereabouts, open depots in gainful areas along "Shopping Street," where higâ€"length rubber boots could be loaned to prospective buyâ€" And so into and onto Main Street he comes, Where were those curbs, what provision had been made to clear the snow, slush, mud and water from trolley bus stops? Scarlett Road, too, was similarly treated and folks could board the bus for West Toronto shopping and not have to plough through slop and slush at that.
