Eddie Sanickl, Bill Glynn and Lou I'ossehl of the Toronto Maple Leafs took charge of the instruc- tion period and for well over an hour they described the funda- mentals of baseball. The Pee Wee baseball school held at Gibson Park on Saturday was voted 3 huge success by all those who were on hand and there were some 500 who took in the baseball instruction. Previous to the instruction period, the Mount Dennis Pee Wee Base- ball League staged a replay of an earlier tie game between Montreal and Syracuse. The game was a revelation to the large contingent of fans as they saw some remark. able plays. Eddie Sanicki, the home run leader of the International League, said afterward that it was the best organized baseball school he has attended and he also told the gath- ering before the instruction period that he did not know when he had first begun to play baseball but he does know that he never had a beautiful park, like Gibson Park, to play on when he was a kid. At the completion of the hour and a half session, the players and the executives retired to the recrea- tion room of the National Cellulose where refreshments were served and the players sat around and talked for an hour. While Eddie Sanicki spoke over the public address system, Bill Glynn and Lou Possehl put on a demonstration of fielding, hitting and pitching. After the instruction the boys were asked to shoot their questions and many and varied were the interrogation: that were thrown at the players. Before the instruction period, Gordon Alcott, sports director of Gibson Park, introduced to the gathering, Mort Earn, president, Mount Dennis Baseball League; D. A, Houston, lst vice-president; George Maxwell, supervisor; Bill Slinger, athletic representative of Weston Community Council and Mr. William S. Gibson, patron of Gibson Park. SPORT REPORTS RS. ZONE 4-404 WESTON MU," The Red Sox and the White Sex, both teams of the Weston Senior Public School will now enter a best of-three finals to be played at Gib- son Park, starting next week. In the first game, the Red Sox had too much batting power for the Heights boys and had little trouble in winning. ' In the second game, which was much better played and more close.. 1y contested, the Humber Heights boys showed much more power at the plate and kept the score close until the last man was out. W. Judge and R. Johnson were the sluggers for the Humber Heights getting 7 runs between them. Tom Helm and Bobby Taylor handled the pitching in a credit- able way for Humber Heights. Dougie Scott, Ron Jenniir, Jack Lawson and Don Ross were the big guns for the winners. Stewarts Hill's strong Red Sox team of the senior loop won their way into the finals by eliminating Humber Heights Seniors by scores of 19-5 and 17-13 in the semifinals of the Weston and District Public School Softball league.
