Loans and priorities should be made available to those who desire to build their own homes. Adamson Explains â€"Continued from page 1 unsanitary conditions. The men on the waiting list, the veterans with two and three children who are living in deplorable conditions and who are on the books of the Cenâ€" tral Mortgage and Housing Corâ€" poration are just as, numerous today as they were a year ago. Unless a triâ€"government agreeâ€" ment can be made, there is very little hope that the situation can be improved. Today Canada is not producing sufficient houses, certainly we are not producing houses for rental purposes, and therefore we are not improving the conditions under which our people have to live. We must ‘have all levels of governâ€" ment coâ€"operate to effect a workâ€" able solution and to provide adâ€" equate housing for all Canadians. â€"Continued from page 1 How about cleaning up that backâ€" yard today while you think of it, and that cellar too? Why not sugâ€" gest a coâ€"operative cleanâ€"up day with your neighbors so that the rats aren‘t just moved from one place to another in search of food or a place to nest and propagate their young? The advantages of a coâ€"operative cleanâ€"up and how neighbors can best work together to be most efâ€" fective against man‘s greatest enemy will be related in a timely and interesting film to be shown at the Weston Theatre on the evenâ€" ings of Wednesday and Thursday, June 15 and 16. The subject of the film is such a cleanâ€"up and this method of combatting the little beasts is officially called "block control". The movie was made in England and it is about 20 minutes in length. It is expected that it will subsequently be shown in Toâ€" ronto to further the antiâ€"rodent campaign there. Do Not Help To Feed Continue the war on rats in this community by keeping your cellar and yard free of scrap and trash which provide excellent nesting places for rats and keep all garâ€" bage containers tightly covered. Remember,;â€"if â€"youâ€"â€"don‘sâ€"wantâ€"to see a rat, don‘t help to feed a rat. â€"Continued from page 1 thems under the direction of Mrs. J. Elsewhere in these columns, The Times and Guide is reproducing the final chart showing the numâ€" bers entitled in 1945 to vote and the number eligible to vote on June Commnting on the enumeration completed last Saturday after a week of effort by a large force comprised in the main of women, Mr. Ring said that the work had never. been handled so efficiently. "The enumerators did a garnd job," he said. They did a splendid job and to date there have been practically no complaints of names being left off the list. This is probably due to the fact that the chief Returnâ€" ing Officer introduced an inovaâ€" tion in the form of Enumerator‘s Notification Cards. If the enumerators called at a house at a time when the occupant was absent, they left a card inâ€" forming . the occupant to this effect and further notified the citiâ€" zen that the enumerator would make another call on a certain day at a certain hour thus ensuring that the ocupant would be at home. However, Mr. Ring has made provision for eight courts of reâ€" vision and any qualified voter who may have been inadvertently left off the list can have his name apâ€" pended at one of the courts. New Power Subâ€"Station Council received a communicaâ€" tion from the Public Utilities Commission containing a recomâ€" mendation that the council issue debentures to build a power subâ€" station on the east side of the railway tracks. The commission urged the necessity for such a subâ€"station because of . the inâ€" creasing load in the area, which was causing the overloading of the Little Ave. subâ€"station. A final decision on the matter was not reached by council at this \meeting. After a singâ€"song of the wellâ€" known hymns, refreshments were served and an evening was spent in good Christian fellowship. Mr. Creelman closed the evening with a word of prayer. The Pax Bible Class members have been meeting together now for three years and it is hoped that they will continue to meet for a good many years to come. They have planned many outâ€" ings in the past and have taken some highly interesting and enjoyâ€" able trips. Their monthly firesides are a highlight of their activities and a full turnout of 28 were present on Sunday night for their final meeting.
