PREPAYMENT OF 1940 TAXES TOWN OF WESTON REV. F. J. GOFORTH TIMES AND GUIDE HARRY G. MUSSON, Treasurer. Jesus made an appointment to meet His disciples, beyond the grave, and kept His appointment after His body was dead and buried. He dispelled the doubts of even Thomas the Twin. His disâ€" ciples witnessed for Him. They beâ€" came martyrs unto death for the truth they proclaimed. Others such as Paul, Augustine, Martin Luther, and thousands in modern times were recipients of the Saviour‘s invitation and like the apostles left all to follow their Master. We see men and women, such as John Bunyan, the travelling tinker, acâ€" customed to freedom, giving up their liberty and accepting prison for years that Jesus might be proâ€" claimed and His Word made known. Jesus gave the basis for a worldâ€" wide federation. When it came to a common test, He repeated, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and soul and mind, and thy neighbour as thyself, He said this word. He did it. His revelation was word and deed. He revealed his Father and ours. He revealed His neighbour and ours. The Word of the Lord standeth for ever. Jesus the Son of God abideth with His peoples to the end of the world. The world is His and ail that is therein. The earth, the sea, and every living creature, man and beast, all are His. He is the owner, the maker of all, the living and the dead. He can create and He can destroy. We, men and nations, must acknowledge Him King. Jesus is willing, more than willing to walk with His people. He weepeth over those who wander. The Father seeketh such to worship Him. What doth thy Lord desire of thee; but to do justly, love mercy, humble thyself to walk with Him. God_so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoéver believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world should be saved by Him. He who believes in Him will not be condemned; and he who does not believe has been condemnâ€" edâ€"already for not believing in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the judgment, that light hasâ€"come into the world, and yet men have loved darkness more than light, because their works were evil. Jéesus or Joshua, the Son of God came. He was the Father incarnate, the Father was in Him. He came into His own, and His own received Him not. The world was His and all that is thereâ€" in. There were times when He had not whereon to lay His head. Yet the power of life and death were in Him. He came unto His own, and own and His own received Him not, but many as received Him to them gave He power to become Children of God, even to those who believe in His name. Son and of the Holy Spirit; And teach them to obey everything that I have commanded you; And beâ€" hold, I am with you all the days, to the end of the world. The greatest curative agent on earth is the thought imâ€" bued with spiritual love, with the certainty of God‘s tender and permanent care for His children. _ Virtue, kindness, purity, and gentleness are natural expressions of inâ€" finite Love. The exercise of these qualities lifts the indiâ€" vidual above fear and uncerâ€" tainty, and hastens the full recognition of the perfect man, the man made in God‘s likeness. â€"The Christian Science Monitor. "By this shall all men know that ye are my disâ€" ciples, if ye have love one to another." Thus spoke Christ Jesus, as recorded by John (13:; 35), and his words set the standard for Christian discipleship. How important it is that this high standard be continually maintained! Only as spiritual love and pure affection permeate the lives of Christians will Chrisâ€" tianity be recognized as the most active factor in the clarification and amelioration of human relationships. Love is Spirit, God, in whom the real man lives, moves, and has his being. Each one is free to lay hold on spiritual love, which reâ€" flects Love, and allow it to leaven his thinking, to fill his heart. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 250): "Love is not something put upon a shelf, to be taken down on rare occasions with sugar tongs and laid on a roseâ€"leaf. I make strong deâ€" mands on love, call for active witnesses to prove it, and noble sacrifices and grand achievements as its results. Unless these appear, I cast aside the word as a sham and counterfeit, having no ring of the true metal." The love which we enterâ€" tain for our fellow man measure our progress in true discipleship. It is helpful and wise for those who would folâ€" low Christ, Truth, to examine their thought and ascertain how much love they habituâ€" ally express to their neighbor. Do â€"we magnify good, and reject as unreal the evil in human experience? Do we speak the kind word and perâ€" form the unselfish act that helps to happify another‘s experience? Do we criticize only constructively, thereby striving to uplift and bless? "Love One Another‘‘ The last of the cargo of the City of Flint, American freighter, which the Germans boasted never would reach Britain, was landed at Liverâ€" pool and Manchester. Toâ€"day defective eyes can be corâ€" rected. A visit to an Optometrist at regular intervals, so that any defect of vision may be discovered and corrected, will insure keen, is studied and perfected. Heating facilities to offset chillâ€"and damp are kept at proper temperature. Office furniture is functional but comfortable.. All this helps to raise the standard of health and effiâ€" ciency of the employees, but little attention is given to their eyes and seeing conditions. Because lighting systems play such havoe with the eyes of office workers, as well as those engaged in other tasks, we are glad to see that lighting condiâ€" tions are steadily improving. The desks are only furniture. But behind each desk is a man or woman whose knowledge and exâ€" perience and brains contribute to the industrial welfare of the nation. They do their share, just as the men and women behind machines, the men in foundries and mines, on railroads and ships and in the air do theirs. This vast interlocking of tasks of commerce is business. One factor necessary to all who are engaged in any facet of busiâ€" ness is eyes that are functioning properly. Efficient work depends upon this.. If a person cannot see quickly and clearly, he is delayed in action and thought and cannot accomplish as much work in a day or do it as well. Toâ€"day, executives take into consideration every factor which has a bearing on the effiâ€" ciency of the workers. Ventilation is studied and perfected.
