It is not, we f%lil’lk, or we imagine, or we fancy; But we know. Our knowledge is baged on Christ‘s own words. On the eve of His sufferings, in His parting adi%‘ress to His disciples,â€"recorded â€" in John xiv., He said, "I go to prepare a place for you. . . .. I will come againjand reâ€" ceive you unto Myself." This stateâ€" ment is in pefect harmony with the consensus of Seripture on the subject. At this manifestation. we shall see Himself. A Knowledge That is Cerfain The Apostle Johnâ€" says, We know that when He shall be manifested we shall be like Him‘"â€"that is, when He shall be seen. In this we getia great truth that many believers lEnJesus overlook or forget. Christ is ecoming in glory and will be manifestedâ€"that is, seen by the bodily eye by His wedeemâ€" ed ones. What a soul comforbgrng and spiritâ€"gladdening truth this is! _â€"_ But our future is veiled, because ‘the time has not yet arrived for its revelation. God is now gathering out of all the nations a holy people to form the Bride of the Lamb, and until this is accomplished the veil canot be removed. "It doth not yet appear what we shall be." The word "appear" in the Greek means "to make manifest" to make clearly visible to the eye sense. Another reason why the veil conâ€" tinues is because our present facultâ€" ies would not be able to grasp:or comâ€" prehend the glory if it were revealed. In our present state we could not comâ€" prehend or explain it. We should proâ€" bably say that we had_such great visâ€" ion, and it was not only.great, but grand. g2" y As the train was approaching a staâ€" tion, one said to the other, "The staâ€" tionâ€"master here died last week."" The other said, "He will know the grand secret now." The reply was, "Yés, he will know the grand secret now." ‘As I was sitting beside them, I could‘not but hear their conversation, and, ‘I asked what was the grand secréet he would know now that he was‘ déad\ One of them said, "The secret"we shall all know at death." "What‘ kind of a secret is it? Can you not givé‘us some description of it that would Tead us to understand its character?" The other blurted out, "Whether there is a heaven or a hell." I replied with calmness, "That is no secret." Then they both put the question, "Did you ever hear or read of anyone who came from the other world to tell us about them?" "Yes," I said. "Have you not heard of Him?" Both men stared in astonishment. Softly but firmly I reâ€" plied, " He is the 'Eord Jesus Christ. He came from the other world into this world, and has told us about heaven and its glories, and hell and its miseries, and therefore it is no seâ€" cret at all." The Bible gives us inâ€" formation about these things. Things which are revealed in Scripture are for us and our children, and surely ‘ifu should be the desire of every Christlian to know. these revealed ‘things. We read: "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for those that love Him. His Spirit; for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God" (1 Cor. ii, 9â€"19). To Be Revealed in Time This manifestation of Christ will be at the Second Advent, when He comes to receive His saints and meet them in the air. In the meantime the veil remains. We should seek grace and the indwelling Spirit to enable us to manifest Christ by our life to all with whom we may come in contact. The world knoweth Him not, but our humble Christian life should make Him known to all acquainted with us. Our eyes have never seen the beauty, the grandeur, nor the glory of the heavenly city. Our ears have never heard the music of the heavenly choir as they sing the praises of the Lord in the heaven%y home; but those things which are for â€" our benefit in our wilderness journey. He has revealed to us by His Spirit. Surely, then, we should be eager to know what these revealed things are. We may at times wish to see with our eyes that actual condition of the saints who have passed away, but it is veiled from our sight. This does not mean that we know nothing about the future, and to say so would be‘a misâ€" take, yet we find that many make it" A religious man at the close of a Sun day evening service, said, in a ifiii’it" of bravado, "No one knows anything‘ about the future." Our reply was, "You are only entitled to speak for‘ yourself. You evidently know nathing about the future, but others,‘ ‘Who know their Bibles and search ‘them, know about it, and you need not ‘try to shake their faith, for they‘ ‘Havé adfi’rm grasp of what God has v!‘;’efizéal-i e _’ ; Iho\ J On one occasion I was travelling in Lincolnshire. THE SERMON THE SECOND COMING yond t THE WESTON TIMES & GUIDE _ When the Son of Man shall come, And the radiance of His glory we shall see; When from every clime and nation He shall call His people home, What a gathering of the ransomed that will be!" We have heardstatements made,. and petitions expressed in prayer, and cerâ€" tain hymns sung, to the effect that when we are done with earth we may stand among the angels before the .throne of God. Our position in the glory will ~be on theâ€" throne with Christ, which will be a standing that angels cannot occupy. In the glory a saint will occupy a far higher standâ€" ing than any others. No angel will occupy such a high standing as a saint. The very thought of this should lead us to a life of full consecration to Christ. Let us deny ourselves, and live a wholehearted Christian life for Christ, with the undoubted certainty that when He comes we shall be exâ€" alted like Him. A most successful concertâ€"andâ€"enâ€" tertainmentwas held. at. Smithfield Church on Tuesday of last week when an enthusiastic audience â€" filled. the building to the doors:. The entertainâ€" ment was rendered by . the. Sunday School and the ‘splendid manner in which even the: tiny tots performed on the platform is a tribute to the able .management> andâ€"â€" leadership which they were given during rehearâ€" sals. Among the numbers on the proâ€" gramme were instrumental selections from Mr.â€"«Mickie,of Richview, which were one of theâ€"mast enjoyable feaâ€" tures of the evening. <Mr. Sam Johnâ€" son was in the chair. He shall come and be seenâ€"be manâ€" ifestedâ€"in His human form. How joyful is the exercise in faith, the fervor of love, and the expectation of hope in this contemptation of Christ‘s glorious manifestation! â€" This quells the fears of nature, mortifies the lusts, and subdues its corruption. To this end we are born again of His Spirit, that we should enjoy the visâ€" ions of faith, see Jesus, live by faith in Him, have fellowship with Him in His sufferings, and long for His Manifestations in glory, (when | we shall share in the glories.of His kingâ€" dom over the whole earth. "In that bright and glorious morning He is glorious in His person; glorâ€" ious in His abode; and He shall be glorious in His reign over a redeemâ€" ed world. The Apostle Paul says, "We look for the Saviour . . . who will fashion anew the body of our humilâ€" iation, that it may be conformed to the body of His glory" (Phil. iii, 20â€" 24, R.V!). The undoubted certainty of Christ‘s manifestation is also based on Apostoâ€" lie teaching. The Apostle Peter on the day of Pentecost called on his hearers to reâ€" pentâ€".â€" . _ .. that the. Christ: who hath been appointed may be sent, even Jesus (Acts iii, 19â€"21). St. Paul, writâ€" ing to Timothy, charged him to keep the commandments . ... until the appearing (manifestation) of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Tim. vi, 14). St. John, also, in the Book of the Revelaâ€" tion, exclaims, "Behold, He cometh with clouds, and every eye shall see Him," and in the end of the book our Lord Himself says, "Surely I come quickly," and the saints respond, "Even so, come, Lord Jesus."
