I would also point out that-should an accident' of the. kind occur in n crowded store or meeting, the rapid spread of fire in such inflammable ma- terial is almost certain to occasion a panic with attendant risks to life and limb. The National Fire Protection Association should be immersed in a solution of Corhmercial Ammonium Phosphate in the proportion of one qoound of Phosphate to one gallon of water. If then slightly Wrung and dried they will offer considerable pe- sistance to fire until Vain washed. - If this is not praetidable, a few sim- ple precautions may reduce the danger to a minimum, and these should he considered essential where large num- bers and particularly children are to he Eathered. Local Conservatory of Music Pupils Give Delightful T Programme -siee ithait your eieetriea1 circuits are properlv fused and not overloaded by the addition of temporary lights. fllgllf@lll, 1lEiniil lama The many friends who gathered at the Weston Town Hall on Thursday evening last for the recital given by the pupils of the Weston Branch, Con- servatory of Music, under the direction of Mrs. Demorest, were indeed deligh t- ed with the program arranged, also the styhrand class of work as carried on at the local branch. Both technique and rythym were good, and the rendi- tion of the various selections by the pupils showed individual training had been given, developing the pupil along his or her particular line of musical interpretation. Teachers represented were Mrs. M. Demorest, Misses Edith Chamtiion, Beatrice Pinchin, Gladys Burslem and Margaret Leslie, and the pupils taking part, Misses Lilian Browning, Ruth Watt, May Warnes, Margaret Jamieson, Isabel McDonald, Marjorie Sendall, Margaret Kestevan, Jean Rowland, Margaret Darling, Elsie Card, Beth Warnes, Adelphine Spring. Evelyn Ackrow, Milicent Gowland, Joyce Nevins, Clara _Hill, Helen Irv- ing, Margaret Robertson, Betty Burton, Masters Mac Hayes, Winston Henslar, and Harry Jourard. Canadian Fire Underwriters As. sociation Issue Warning as to Use of Xmas Decorations Examine your fire extinguishing rm- plianees and see that they are suffi- cient, in good order and readily af cessible. T "iii/i/ii," all exits are plainly marked and not obstructed. - Remember that nothing' cnn render these displays absolutely safe, and thnt if accidents are not to mar the fes- tive season, constant vigilance and care must be exercised. Yours truly. JOHN A. ROBERTSON, See that inflammable mnferinl i< dear of and not hung over heating' and lighting: devices, steampipes, stovepipes, electric light bulbs, etc. _ The vocal selections by Miss Edith Champion provided a pleasing variation to the program, the young artist de- lighting her audience with her sweet, yet powerful, voice. A slight disap- pointrpent was given by the annoume 'ment 'of the unavoidable absence of Miss Marion Sharpe, who was to have given a violin number. V The Weston Branch management and pupils are both to be highly congrat- ulated on the success of the evening, Real Estate continues brisk through- out York Township, harbinger of a brighter future. A recent deal put through comprises the sale of 100 acres at the corner of Eglington and Keele St., on what is, known as the Beechboro grange division. New roads have ol-. ready been opened and Traded, water mains laid and electric lights installed. Ed. Tijou and Co. are in charge of the property and are openinss up a new office on the Vaughan Road.
