Arthur J.. Johnston, â€" Islington,: Ont., many relatives and friends of Mr. Tobias S. Mason, of Lisgar, Ont., who joined him in celebrating the 86th anniversary of his birth. â€"Four genâ€" erations of the family were present, the youngest child there . being the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elâ€" mer Waite, of Lisgar, Ont. A sumpâ€" tuous repast was served at noon and all of Mr. Mason‘s family now living were present at the dining.table which was graced with daffodils. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Tobias S. Mason and their son George and wife of Lisgar; their four daughters and husbands being Mr. and Mrs. Alfred G. Waite, of Lisgar, Ont., Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Abbey, of Buffalb, N.Y., Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Johnston and Mr. and Mrs. George W. Clarkson, of Islington, Ont. The grandchildren _ enjoyed themselves at a side table. Many gifts were presented to Mr. Mason and he received showers of congratulatinos from friends close at hand andf from others at a distance. Some of these came from Buffalo, N. Y., Orkona, Ont., Toronto and Brampton. Among those who called on Mr. Mason were the parents of Mrs, Johnston, who are still quite young at 80 and 84 years of age. Mr. Mason‘s forbears come. from _ Ireland. His mother, whose family name was Switzer, came to Lisgar, formerly known as "the Switzer neighborhood," in 1823, and was a defscendant of the Switzers who were among the founders of Methoâ€" dism in America, His father came to Lisgar in 1819, and. settled on the farm where Mr. Mason was born and which is now occupied by his son George.
