éhokne It is with considerable regret o that many of the members of St. John‘s church and friends in the town see the family leave. They go with \ the very best wishes of all in this _ community for great prosperity â€" in g;:;l:heir new work and much happiness. _ The Lieut.â€"Governor and Council have granted the petition of the trusâ€" tees of the. Weston Methodist Church for the removalâ€" of the bodies in the old cemetery back of the church. A special meeting of the Board will be held at the parsonage, King St., on Wednesday evening to deal with this matter. w ‘j‘ffi 8 3 3 ne : lluring the past few weeks people liying on ‘the west side of Main St. _ north have been annoyed and in many â€" cases suffered damages to gardens Wand lawns from cows pasturing in ‘the flats, breaking through into their gardens and eating off the young ‘shoots of ‘corn and other vegetables, ‘."also destroying young plants and lawns by tramping over them. In some places gardens ‘have been replanted and on â€" Sunday last some of these suffered a second invasion. Owing to the lateness . of the season replanting is out of the question and the owner who was watâ€" ching his garden with such satisfaction now views a bare patch â€"of ground which will require some hours work with rake and hoe to keep down the weeds and no tasty vegetable to repay him for expense of seed or labor. It may be pointed out that these lots i?*‘éxtend down into the valley to high water mark and the animals were out of bounds when wandering along, the flats on the north side of the river. An investigation was made by the owners as to the condition of the fenâ€" ces dividing their land from that rentâ€" ed for pasture and they: were found to be in very unsatisfactory condition. For any who may wish to start a rose bed or add to their stock, a great opportunity to see nearly all garden varieties of the rose will be yours on Thursday, June 26th, in the annual \ show of the Rose Society of Ontario in Jenkins‘ Art Galleries, College St., _2 to 10 p. m. There will be nunareds of rose blooms in the various compeâ€" titions.for §5 prizes. A. taple is also_ devoted to rose pests and their cure. Take a pad and pencil and note the roses you want later. It is interesting to note that Mrs. G. G. Adam, of the Elms, is President of the Society this year and also that her roses are well able to hold their own Against all comers. This show is wel} worth a quarter for the revelation to you of the almost endless variety in form and color of this queen of flowâ€" ers, apart from the very practical purâ€" pose of the show. The growing of roses is now a live subject with the flower lovers of Wesâ€" ton. The several extensive rose gardâ€" ens in our town have proved that they can be successfully. grownsif one is inâ€" terested. If in doubt ask any of the rosarians especially A. J. Barker, the postmaster, or George Fisher. Both these gentlemen began their rose knowledge with their first few trees in Weston and they will tell youâ€"that all you require) is interest, common. sense and attention. j During the ‘ On Sunday, June 15th, Mr..
