Fleas bite and suck the blood of the host caus- ing a small central red spot and a little swelling. Reac- tion to this bite often causes itching and skin infections in animals and man. A flea develops in four stages, the egg, larva, pupa and adult. The eggs fall off the host and develop in areas that are moist such as crevices in flooring along, baseboards, often in fumi- ture and basements.
