ANNOUNCEMENT I witnessed an interesting episode a couple of weeks ago that took place at the Swank Shop (a discount clothing store, featuring men's, women's and children's clothing) in Jane Park Plaza. It appears that the proprietor of the store only allows certain people to browse through the store. I invited Norma, a Jamaican girl friend, to visit the shop with me. Norma is involved in a project with her church and is constantly on the look out for clothing to send to the needy in Jamaica. As the store was having a sale, I felt sure that Norma could find some articles of clothing suitably priced to fill the barrel that is sent to home each month. As we walked into the store, a young salesgirl came over and asked if she could be of help. We told her we would like to look around the store for awhile. Norma and I separated - she to look in one direction and I in the other. I picked up a couple of articles of clothing that I felt could be used to send and continued to look around with the items of clothing in my hands. As I stood looking at some shirts, I heard the proprietor of the store telling Norma An experimental ray has exposed jawbone tumors long before they can be detected by conventional x- rays. When asked by Norma how she was sup posed to know what was for sale in the store when she couldn't look around, the proprietor informed her that everyone must come into the store and specifically state what they wanted. There was another customer in the store and she and I hadn't been told to specifically state what we wanted.
