Nearly six weeks of anxious waiting are over for more than 100 Grade 13 students at Weston Collegiate Institute and Vocaâ€" tional School. Departmental Examination results were reâ€" ceived by WCVS Wednesday morning after a record number of papers were marked by teaâ€" chers from throughout Ontario. This is a relatively early date for announcement of the grades, earned last June in a gruelling batery of two to three tests. The processing of examination reâ€" turns was speeded this year by the use of electronic computers. Eight WCVS students were successful in achieving an averâ€" age of more than 80 per cent, thus qualifying for a $400 Onâ€" tario Government | scholarship. Top local candidate was John Sainsbury with an average of 87 per cent. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sainsbury, 15 ern Avenue, Weston. Other highâ€"ranking local schoâ€" lars are Brian Moorish, 50 Hillâ€" garden Road, Etobicoke; Lois Rutherford, 63 Yorkleigh, Etob.; Roy Smyth, 936 Scarlett Road, Etob.; John Wright, 3 Mayo Drive, Downsview: Diane Mortiâ€" 8 Ontario Scholars Listed Amona WCVS Grade 13‘s 102 YEARS YOUNG! WESTON Maple Leaf 55, TURNERS MEAT MARKET LEGS & BREASTS TURNERS MEAT MARKET THE TIMES ADVERTISER â€" Thursday, August 13, 1964 â€" Page 11 Canada Packers Jubilee SIDE BACON manager Farm families in the Weston area might want to consider the usefulness and convenience of having exâ€" tension telephones in buildings other than the house. After all, it makes sense to have a telephone where you spend a lot of wprking time! Take the barn, f" example. You can make important business calls without leaving your work â€" planning schedules of livestock shipments. ordering feed, taking orders or enquiries, checking up on deliveries, etc. And since the telephone rings in the house as well as in the barn, no incoming calls are missed. I suppose most people have come to think of extenâ€" sion telephones as belonging only inside the home itself. But actually they belong wherever they serve a need â€" and that includes in farm buildings. Mr. Earl E. Jarvis, Some young people may shudder at the thought of it (and blame me for throwing cold water on what was up to now a pleasant holiday), but next year‘s school term is just around the corner. I certainly me that as many Weston students as possible are intending: to return to complete High School or technical school, because this is certainly the minimum requirement today in order to have any satisfactory control over what kind of jobs will be held over the next fortyâ€"plus years. And that can be a mighty long time to regret not staying in school a tew more vears! I hope that parents who grew up when times were different are aware of how much our society has changed and are propetly determined that theit children be as fully equipped as possible before tackling the working world. Your telephone is built to take it. It‘s only reason for being is to give you dependable, troubleâ€"free service, year after year. But if anything should go wrong, we‘ll gladly fix it without extra charge. All you need to do is call the "repair service" number in the front of the phone book. Often, we can take care of the problem from the exchange. If necessary, we‘ll send someone out. But whatever the case, you‘ll never receive a bill for repairs. This is one of the values that goes with your service. ‘This one I can‘t vouch for because I wasn‘t there, but it‘s already giving me ideas about how to close the next leiter I write. It‘s about the origin of our word "sincere." It appears that sculptors in ancient Rome used to repair their minor mistakes with wax, moulded so skilâ€" fully into the design that only an expert could detect the flaws. Pieces that were not patched brought higher prices than the repaired ones. To assure buyers of the quality of their purchases, dealers marked the undoctored pieces ‘sine cera. our telephone THE WESTON TIMES BELL LINES Publisped at 286 Dixon Road, Weston by Principal Publishing Lté, every Thursday V J.
